Cary L. Gentry, MD, FACS, FASCRS

Dr. Gentry has been with the practice since July 2001. He specializes in the treatment of colon and rectal cancer, laparoscopic colon surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of fecal (bowel) incontinence. Dr. Gentry sees patients at our Stony Point and Henrico Doctors’ offices.

Areas of Special Focus
Screening Colonoscopy, Bowel Incontinence, Rectal Cancer and Diverticulitis. Contact Dr. Gentry for public speaking engagements on these topics.

Education
Dr. Gentry received his undergraduate degree from Roanoke College and his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed a general surgery internship/residency at Carilion Health System followed by a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Orlando Regional Health System.

Certifications
Board certified in Colon and Rectal Surgery as well as General Surgery.

Memberships
Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. His additional memberships include the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons.

Honors & Awards
Dr. Gentry’s past honors include Chief of Staff, Henrico Doctors Hospital, Medical Director of Colon and Rectal Surgery, Retreat Hospital, Richmond Magazine’s “Top Docs,” and Consumers’ Research Council of America “America’s Top Surgeons.”
