Don’t Forget The Fiber

Most people know they should include fiber in their diet but might not know how much fiber can do for their health.

The right amount of fiber keeps bowel movements regular which in turn keeps constipation and hemorrhoids away and even promotes a healthy colon.  Diets rich in fiber can also maintain blood sugar levels and keep cholesterol in check.

So How Much Fiber Do Doctors Recommend?

Good.  We’ve sold you on why you should eat more fiber – but how much should you eat, and what should you eat?

Most doctors suggest adults eat 30-35 grams of fiber a day, but most people only eat half this amount. Pay attention to how much fiber you are actually eating and try to get your fiber from healthy, natural sources.  Sure the nutrition label on that sugary granola bar claims 10 grams of fiber but the physicians at CRS recommend you get your fiber from other, and usually, better tasting options like the ones listed below.
