Peter Miller, MD

Dr. Miller joined Colon & Rectal Specialists in July 2016. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery for colon cancer, rectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. He also has a special interest in the treatment of fecal incontinence.  He is the director of the Rectal Cancer Program at Henrico Doctors Hospital and helped spearhead the effort to obtain accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Miller sees patients at our Stony Point and Henrico Doctors’ offices.

Education
Dr. Miller received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and his medical degree from the University of Maryland Medical School.

He completed his general surgery training at Steward Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston, MA and subsequently completed a research year at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans with a focus on national outcomes following colorectal surgery and translational colon cancer stem cell research.

He finished his training by completing a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Brown University in Providence, RI.

In his spare time, Dr. Miller enjoys exploring Richmond with his wife and two sons.  He is an avid fan of European Soccer and follows the Tottenham Hotspurs as well as the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens.
